Description

Finest Known 1795 O-112 Half-Dollar

1795 AU 58 NGC. O-112, R.4. An interesting variety with a drastically recut date, the original digits clearly visible along the denticles. A Condition Census example of this popular variety that displays abundant luster, both in the fields and under the devices. The only breaks seem to be on the highpoints--the obvious spots--where the coin has accumulated some light rubbing during its very brief stint in circulation. There are virtually no signs of abrasions or abuse, and the striking and centering is excellent. The only detraction is a large number of the often-seen adjustment marks that are present on the obverse.
