    Description

    1801 50C O-101, T-2, R.3, VF20 NGC. Tompkins Die State 3/3. The clashed obverse shows a crack through the E in LIBERTY, and severe rust defects appear in the left-reverse field. The 1801 is the first Heraldic Eagle half dollar and a semikey in that short set. This well-circulated example exhibits gold and stone-gray patina with scattered abrasions on each side. The portrait maintains good detail. (NGC ID# 24ED, Variety PCGS# 39267, Base PCGS# 6064)
