Scarce 1802 Half Dollar
1802 XF 40 Cleaned and Retoned. O-101, R.3, the only variety of the year. A very scarce date, one of just 29,890 pieces minted, with most survivors found in low grades. The surfaces show unnatural underlying brightness from cleaning but this has been somewhat ameliorated by the dark coloration that has been artificially applied. Several vertical adjustment marks are seen on the upper reverse.Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 6065, GSID# 6129)
