Description

Appealing 1806 Half, MS63
Pointed 6, Stem, O-115a

1806 50C Pointed 6, Stem MS63 PCGS. O-115a, R.1. The variety is confirmed by the recut T and Y of LIBERTY and the five berries on the reverse, the lowest of which has no stem. As Overton describes, the crack at the bottom of the date becomes sharper and branches into two cracks at the left, one passing below stars 1 to 3, the other going through stars 1 to 5. A crack has developed at the top of STATES but does not progress downward to join UNITED, as Overton indicates that it should. Some Bust half specialists suggest that no such advanced crack exists.
Dusky golden-gray toning displays splashes of cobalt-blue and lavender on the reverse. The design elements are well impressed and nicely centered on the planchet, and the dentilation is complete and strong on both sides. No adjustment marks are visible.(Registry values: N4719)
