Probable Finest Known 1806 O-115 Half Dollar
1806 50C Pointed 6, Stem MS64 PCGS. O-115, R.1. An impressive early half that has a pronounced die crack below and to the left of the date. This piece may well be the finest known of this relatively common variety as the Condition Census listed in Overton's third edition is (62, 62, 61, 60, 60). The striking details on this piece are remarkably sharp with crisp definition on the stars and peripheral lettering as well as the eagle's feathers on the reverse. Excellent mint luster underlies the original gray-lilac and golden toning that covers each side. Essentially abrasion-free.
