Description

Attractively Toned 1807 Draped Bust Half Dollar, MS63

1807 50C Draped Bust MS63 PCGS. CAC. O-110, R.2. Obverse: the stars have long, sharp points, the 180 in the date are large and the 7 small, the center dot in hair is 2 mm. below and slightly left of ear, and fine die cracks encircle legend and stars. Reverse: five berries with stems, the crack from top of ED in UNITED touches tip of wing, STATES at top, through last S, but terminates before reaching clouds.
A melange of cobalt-blue, gray, and orange patina runs over both sides of this Select specimen, each of which is devoid of significant marks. A well directed strike leaves near-uniform definition on the design elements, including virtually full detail on the eagle's plumage, save for minor softness on the neck. Luster resides in the recessed areas.
