Description

1807 Draped Bust Half Dollar, AU58
Album Toned O-105, T-4

1807 50C Draped Bust, O-105, T-4, R.1, AU58 NGC. Tompkins Die Stage 4/3. An intermediate die stage before the reverse die develops large die breaks. This splendid example features colorful album toning with golden, deep blue, and russet hues at the peripheries on both sides, while the centers have light silver-gray coloration. The strike is sharp for the issue, with crisp drapery lines and hair curls, although the eagle's right wing has just a touch of weakness. Lustrous surfaces have only a few small marks from the coin's brief time in circulation.
