Description

1807 O-110a, T-3 Half Dollar, MS63
Beautiful CAC-Approved Piece

1807 50C Draped Bust, O-110a, T-3, R.2, MS63 PCGS. CAC. Tompkins Die State 2/3. Steel-gray surfaces contain hints of ocean-blue, sage, and sunrise yellow around the periphery. The reverse also contains hints of rose towards the center. No notable abrasions are present on either side, and the darker regions of the shield are scratches on the holder. CAC awarded this group of glorious attributes with a "green bean." The O-110 is the most common die marriage of the last year of the Draped Bust Heraldic Eagle half dollar. Experts differ on when the changeover precisely occurred, with Steve Tompkins suggesting the final Draped Bust delivery occurred on September 14 and the first Capped Bust delivery on October 21, and Dave Finkelstein suggesting September 1 and September 14, respectively. These figures correspond to Draped Bust mintages of 760,076 or 706,076, respectively, much higher than the commonly published figure of 301,076.
