Description
1806 O-109 Draped Bust Half, Original AU50
Pointed 6, No Stem, Strong Eye Appeal
1806 50C Pointed 6, No Stem, O-109, T-15, R.1, AU50 PCGS
Secure. Tompkins Die State 1/2. Immediately identifiable by the
lack of a stem through the eagle's right claw, the O-109
(Tompkins-15) die marriage is easily the most available 1806
variety. This About Uncirculated example retains much of its mint
luster for the AU50 level. The coin is struck from an early die
state, before the dies were heavily clashed. Pleasing silver-gray
surfaces show few marks or abrasions. High-point wear on Liberty's
temple curls, ribbon, and central reverse accompanies slight
weakness at the left-hand stars. The balance of the strike remains
sharp. An oval toning spot is noted at the rim, right of the date.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24EJ, Variety PCGS# 39310, Base PCGS# 6073, Greysheet# 194098)
