Pointed 6, No Stem, Late Die State
1806 50C Pointed 6, No Stem, O-109a, T-15, R.3, AU53 PCGS
Secure. Tompkins Die State 6/4. The T-15 die pair is the sole
Pointed 6 variety without a branch stem; an engraver's oversight.
This example shows ample remaining mint luster and attractive
steel-blue and wheat-gold toning. As usual for the late die state,
the coin is somewhat lightly impressed at the centers but better
struck at the peripheries. Few marks appear across the colorful,
appealing surfaces. An important Guide Book variety.Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 6/2016), lot 3847, which realized $3,525.
