    Description

1798 BD-4 Five Dollar, Choice AU
    Large Eagle, 13 Star Reverse

1798 $5 Large Eagle, Large 8, 13 Star Reverse AU55 PCGS. CAC. BD-4, High R.4. Bass-Dannreuther Die State d/e. A late die state with cracks across the right-side obverse stars and expanded cuds over the ES in STATES and the O in OF. A charming sun-gold representative of this better Heraldic Eagle date. The cheek and bust tip show slight wear, but luster dominates the peripheries, curls, and eagle. A lens reveals only unimportant marks, mostly on the obverse field. The centers display minor inexactness of impression, characteristic of BD-4. The obverse border is lightly strike doubled.(Registry values: P3)
