1798 $5 Large Eagle, Large 8, 13 Stars Reverse, BD-2, R.5 -- Tooled -- PCGS Genuine. AU Details. Bass-Dannreuther Die State c/b, the usual late die state with a die crack below the date, another from the border into the cap left of the L in LIBERTY, and a delicate crack through the second S in STATES. A few other minor die cracks are noted. The obverse is the same die that was used for the rare 1798 Small Eagle coins. Despite the PCGS designation, this lovely example has pleasing rose overtones on its lustrous green-gold surfaces.
