Rare 1798 BD-6 Half Eagle, XF Details
1798 $5 Large Eagle, Small 8--Filed Rims--PCGS Genuine. Breen-6430, BD-6, R.6. Incorrectly described as a Large 8 variety on the holder. XF Details. Bisecting obverse and reverse die cracks undoubtedly explain the rarity of this variety, as neither die remained serviceable for much longer. This piece has been cleaned, and has filed rims with a pinch at 12 o'clock. There are myriad abrasions.(Registry values: P4, N4)Note for clients in the European Union: This lot is considered by the European Union to be “investment gold”.
