Description

1800 $5 --Repaired, Improperly Cleaned--NCS. XF Details. Breen-6438, BD-3, High R.6. The top of the 1 in the date lacks the left serif. On the reverse, one of the arrows extends to the middle of the I in UNITED. John Dannreuther (2006) estimates that only 18 to 25 representatives of this rare variety are known, although that estimate may be a little too low. Medium-yellow patina covers both sides. Peppered abrasions and some softness in the centers are consistent with the XF Details grade. Although the edge at the left obverse has been repaired, the cleaning noted on the holder is undistracting.(Registry values: P2)
