Description

Uncirculated 1802/1 Five Dollar, BD-1

1802/1 $5 MS60 NGC. Breen-6440, BD-1, High R.4. Luster fills the reverse and illuminates the obverse borders and portrait. The reverse is nearly unabraded, and the obverse exhibits only minor contact. A tiny ruby-red alloy spot is concealed on a star above the eagle. Early U.S. gold types are vastly scarcer than their post-1834 successors, and collector interest continues to grow, corresponding to the recent dispersal of die variety knowledge. Housed in a former generation holder.(Registry values: P2)
