Description
Attractive 1802/1 Five Dollar MS62
1802/1 $5 MS62 PCGS. Breen-6440, BD-8, R.4. The terminal die state for the variety with a prominent die break, or cud, above the T in UNITED. The strike is generally sharp, since any softness is apparent only the left shield border, the ST in STATES, and the cloud beneath the A in STATES. Adjustment marks are limited to a few faint lines on the lower right obverse. The devices are unabraded, and it takes patient evaluation with a loupe to find a few thin marks on the obverse field near the stars. One of the reverse dies was used with both obverses, for a total of eight varieties, all of which are R.4 or higher.(Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25NX, PCGS# 8083, GSID# 8872)
