    1803/2 Overdate Half Eagle

    1803/2 $5 --Whizzed--ANACS. AU Details, Net XF40. B. 1-C, Breen-6441, Bass-3080, Miller-56, R.4. The obverse die is identified by the broken letter punches used for T and Y in LIBERTY. A second 1803 over 2 obverse die is also known, with a broken Y but a perfect T. This example is unnaturally bright with green-gold color, but the existing detail is actually virtually unworn. Only a trace of rub remains visible on each side.(#8084) (Registry values: P2) (NGC ID# 25NY, PCGS# 8084)
