1806 $5 Knob 6, 7x6 Stars, BD-6, R.2, MS63 PCGS.
Bass-Dannreuther Die State d/f. The 1806 BD-6 is the sole Capped
Bust Right die marriage with a 7x6 star arrangement, which allows
greater distance than is usual between obverse star 1 and the
shoulder curl. Yet the variety is usually attributed by the Knob 6
in the date, since that diagnostic can be confirmed at a glance.
This is a charming butter-gold type coin. Luster sweeps across
minimally marked fields and devices. The shield and right-side
obverse stars show a hint of incompleteness of strike, but the eye
appeal is undeniably impressive. Housed in a Generation 3.1 green
