    Desirable Near-Gem 1806 Five Dollar
    7x6 Stars, Round Top 6, BD-6

1806 $5 Round Top 6, 7x6 Stars MS64 NGC. Breen-6448, BD-6, R.2. Bass-Dannreuther Die State d/e with a rust lump on the R in LIBERTY. A lustrous honey-gold near-Gem of this scarce type. The reverse is exceptionally devoid of marks, and obverse abrasions are limited to wispy grazes on the field and portrait. Well-struck at the centers, and lightness of impression is confined to the right obverse dentils. BD-6 is the sole half eagle of the date with six stars after LIBERTY instead of the proper five stars. As a result, the right obverse border is crowded, while the left border has a comparatively large open area near Liberty's shoulder, where star 1 is usually located. Census: 42 in 64, 2 finer (5/11).(Registry values: P2) (NGC ID# 25P5, PCGS# 8089)

The marketing was exceptional from the photos to the ads in Civil War Times and North South Trader for the cross over people!!! I have had many emails from my Civil War collecting fraternity that saw these and I saw them at the national show in Nashville/Franklin in early December.
