Description

Remarkable 1807 Capped Bust Half Eagle, AU55, BD-8

1807 $5 Bust Left AU55 PCGS. Breen-6453, BD-8, R.2. The reverse identifies this variety, and is distinguished by the location of the feather tip, which points to the tip of the 5 in the denomination. This piece is obverse state d/reverse state b, and features fairly prominent clash marks on both sides, most notably in Liberty's hair from the shield. Pleasing yellow-gold patina graces both sides of this boldly defined representative. Scattered abrasions define the grade, but none are worthy of note. An attractive and lustrous example from the first year of John Reich's Capped Bust design. Housed in a green label PCGS holder.(Registry values: P2)
