Description

1807 Bust Left Five Dollar, MS63
Breen-6453, BD-8

1807 $5 Bust Left MS63 PCGS. Breen-6453, BD-8, R.2. This die pairing is easily distinguished by the lone 1807 Capped Bust Left obverse being combined with a reverse where the tip of the feather points to the tip of the flag of the 5. The other marriage (BD-7) has the tip of the feather positioned over the center of the flag of the 5.
The lustrous apricot-gold and mint-green surfaces on this Select specimen exhibit sharply struck design elements, and display moderate clash marks on the central obverse. Light handling marks on each side, including a couple of faint hair-thin marks on Liberty's cheek, preclude a higher grade. Some short adjustment marks are visible at the obverse rim, especially along the right border.
