    About Uncirculated 1807 Capped Bust Right Five Dollar, Elusive B. 1-B Variety

    1807 $5 Bust Right AU53 PCGS. B. 1-B, Miller-86, R.6. Only one of the six known die marriages of the 1807 Bust Right Half Eagle is seen with any degree of regularity, and B. 1-B is not it. Also of note is the difficulty in locating a sharply struck representative of this final-year issue that most collectors experience. The obverse of the present example is uncommonly well impressed with considerable sharpness to Liberty's portrait and not all that distracting softness of detail on the star centrils. The reverse is less well defined, particularly in the center, but the major design elements are appreciably bold. Green-gold and orange-gold colors are well blended over both sides, a pair of small digs in the upper obverse field being the only singularly mentionable abrasions. (NGC ID# CKLF, PCGS# 8092)
