    Description

Choice VF 1808/7 Half Eagle, B. 2-A Die Marriage

1808/7 $5 VF30 PCGS. B. 2-A, Miller-104, Breen-6455, High R.4. The so called "Close Overdate," B. 2-A is more readily obtainable than B. 1-A. Neither of these varieties should be considered common, however, as the 1808/7 is the rarest Capped Bust Left Half Eagle after the two Small 5 marriages (B. 1-B and B. 2-B) of the 1810 delivery. This is a pleasingly original survivor with green-gold color and no more than the expected number of abrasions for the grade, virtually all of which are small in size. Evenly worn over the highpoints.
    Ex: May/June 1991 Long Beach Signature Sale (Heritage, 5/91), lot 1189, where it realized $1,485. (NGC ID# 25PB, PCGS# 8103)

    Weight: 8.75 grams

    Metal: 91.67% Gold, 8.33% Copper
