Description

1810 BD-4 Half Eagle, AU55+
Large Date, Large 5

1810 $5 Large Date, Large 5, BD-4, R.2, AU55+ PCGS. Bass-Dannreuther Die State a/a. No die clashing is evident on either side of this Choice AU half eagle that represents a plentiful variety. Two varieties of the short lived Capped Bust half eagles that were struck from 1807 to 1812 are ideal type collecting candidates. This 1810 BD-4 and the 1807 BD-8 each have an estimated survival in the range of 500 to 750 coins per John W. Dannreuther. Aside from trivial adjustment marks along the upper right reverse border, this splendid piece features excellent surfaces with brilliant orange overtones on its lustrous light yellow-gold surfaces.
