    Description

    1810 BD-4 Five Dollar, AU58
Large Date, Large 5, Collectible Type

1810 $5 Large Date, Large 5, BD-4, R.2, AU58 NGC. Bass-Dannreuther die state a/a, uncracked and unclashed. The 1810 Large Date, Large 5 (BD-4) half eagle is one of the most collectible issues of this type or any other early five dollar gold piece. Dannreuther's survival estimate ranges from 500 to 700 pieces known. This yellow-gold example remains in nearly Uncirculated condition. Strike definition is soft over the centers, with roller marks present across the portrait, but a pleasing degree of luster brightens the lightly abraded surfaces.

The outcome of the auction far exceeded my best hopes and would not likely have been as successful with out your sound advice on where to present the coin and how best to set the reserve. Throughout the process your availability , support and knowledge were exceptional.
