Description
Splendid MS63 1810 Large Date, Large 5 Half Eagle
1810 $5 Large Date, Large 5 MS63 NGC. Breen-6459, BD-4, R.2. A simply splendid example of this early gold type coin, the most available of the Capped Bust Left series that ran from 1807 through 1812. Garrett and Guth point out that this date is one of the few of the type that can be found--for a price--in grades as high as MS66. This more-reasonable piece offers lustrous, relatively pristine greenish-gold surfaces. Only a few minuscule signs of contact preclude an even finer grade, but this piece nonetheless offers significant appeal at a reasonable cost of acquisition. Census: 30 in 63, 34 finer (8/07).(Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 8108, GSID# 8814)
Metal: 91.67% Gold, 8.33% Copper
Weight: 8.75 grams
AGW: 0.25789oz
Mintage: 100,200
