    Description

    1811 Small 5 Half Eagle, BD-2, AU58
    Briefly Circulated Example

1811 $5 Small 5, BD-2, R.3, AU58 PCGS. Bass-Dannreuther Die State d/a, showing no clash marks on the reverse. All dates (though not all varieties) of John Reich's Capped Bust Left design are collectible. The 1811 is no exception, though it is certainly scarcer than the 1807 or 1810. The 1811 has two die marriages, and each is separately listed in the Guide Book due to different-sized punches used for the 5 in the denomination. This butter-gold representative displays ample luster and is refreshingly void of abrasions. Light rub on the claws and chin confirms momentary circulation.
