    1811 Half Eagle, MS63
    Small 5, BD-2

1811 $5 Small 5 MS63 PCGS. BD-2, R.3. Bass-Dannreuther Die State e/a with a die crack between stars 9 and 10. The two 1811-dated half eagle varieties share a common obverse die that shows more space between the 18 than between the 81, and all the 1's in the date appear to lean slightly left. The Tall 5 reverse, BD-1, is actually a holdover from the 1810 BD-1, while the Small 5 reverse uses the same digit punch as that for 1810, but the die is unique to this year. This well struck example has good luster and only minor grazes on the cheek and obverse field. The reverse is well preserved save for a faint mark near the E in UNITED. Population: 36 in 63, 21 finer (6/13).(Registry values: P2)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25PH, PCGS# 8109)

    Weight: 8.75 grams
