    Description

    1811 Small 5 Half Eagle, BD-2, MS63
Reverse Rotated 45 Degrees to Left

1811 $5 Small 5 MS63 PCGS. BD-2, R.3. Bass-Dannreuther Die State d/a, not clashed on the reverse, though the obverse shows faint cracking between stars 9 and 10. Both varieties of the 1811 half eagle are scarce regardless of grade. This Small 5 piece has softly swirling luster, perfectly suited to the coin's age and circumstances of striking. Sun-yellow and peach-gold surfaces show a few faint imperfections, most visibly shallow scrapes to the left of Liberty's lips, but the all-around eye appeal makes this an excellent coin for the type or date enthusiast. For the Small 5 variety, Population: 36 in 63, 21 finer (6/13).(Registry values: P2) (NGC ID# 25PH, PCGS# 8109)
