Splendid 1812 Half Eagle, BD-1, AU58
1812 $5 AU58 NGC. Wide 5D, Breen-6466, BD-1, R.3. Only two varieties of the 1812 half eagle are known, and they are clearly identified by the spacing of the denomination. This piece is Bass-Dannreuther die state a/a and exhibits the two prominent die lines on the reverse. Pleasing apricot-gold patina covers both sides of this minimally marked representative.
