Description

Sharply Struck 1813 Capped Head Five, AU55, BD-1

1813 $5 AU55 PCGS. Breen-6467, BD-1, R.2. This is a wonderful Choice AU example of the first year for the Capped Head type, a modification of John Reich's earlier Capped Bust design. This example has excellent green-gold luster with slight rub on the high points of the design. The surfaces are lightly abraded, consistent with the grade. The devices are sharply struck, a feature that is not always present on 1813 fives.(Registry values: P2)
