    1813 BD-1 Half Eagle, MS64
    Capped Head Left Type Coin
    Almost Uncollectible Finer

1813 $5 BD-1, R.2, MS64 PCGS. Bass-Dannreuther Die State b/b. Clash marks are most readily evident within LIBERTY and the shield. BD-1 represents most of the 1813 half eagle population, particularly in high grade. Yet, collector demand continues to impress as this issue is the only readily available date of the Capped Head Left type. Choice Mint State examples are scarce and the subject of earnest bidding when they appear at auction. Finer coins are virtually uncollectible for most enthusiasts.

This near-Gem offers frosty yellow-gold luster that glistens when rotated beneath a light. Sharp stars surround equally well-defined central devices, and only the most minute luster grazes prevent Gem classification. Eye appeal is outstanding. Population (both varieties included): 58 in 64 (5 in 64+), 2 finer (11/18).
