Description

1813 Half Eagle, BD-1, VF25
Well-Circulated, Large Diameter Five

1813 $5 BD-1, R.2, VF25 PCGS. Bass-Dannreuther Die State b/b. The Bold Relief Capped Head Left five dollar gold pieces make up a brief subset in the Large Diameter series, represented by the 1813 to 1815 issues. The 1815 is out of reach for most collectors, leaving the 1813 and 1814/3 survivors to represent the type. This is a smoothly worn 1813 from the more-available BD-1 die marriage. A few wispy lines and minute ticks exist across the sand-gold surfaces, which retain orange accents at the margins and decent definition on all of the motifs.
