Mint State 1813 Capped Head Five

1813 $5 MS60 NGC. Breen-6467, BD-1, R.2. An impressive piece, fully Mint State, with excellent green-gold luster and faint splashes of pale orange toning. This piece represents the first year of issue for the slightly modified design by John Reich, patterned after his previous Capped Head design. Mint State examples of this date are common enough in the lower grades, but difficult to find at the higher grades. Many circulated pieces also survive from the 95,428 coin mintage. As a first-year type coin, the 1813 Capped Head five is always in demand by type and date collectors.(Registry values: P2)
