    Description

    1820 Square 2 Half Eagle AU55 Details

1820 $5 Square 2--Cleaned--ANACS. AU55 Details. Large Letters, Breen-6476, BD-2, High R.5. Our records indicate that the present piece is only the third example of BD-2 to appear in a Heritage Signature auction this decade. As a die variety, BD-2 is interesting for star 13, which is broadly recut south and has a point firmly attached to the bust. This partly lustrous piece displays vertical hairlines once rotated beneath a light, but the strike is intricate and there are no further detractions.
