Description

1806 Knob 6 Half Eagle, BD-6, MS62
CAC-Approved Masterpiece With Die Cracks

1806 $5 Knob 6, 7x6 Stars, BD-6, R.2, MS62 PCGS. CAC. Bass-Dannreuther Die State c/d. Glowing, rich yellow-gold surfaces retain significant amounts of luster. Only a whisper of weakness is present on the strands of hair and some of the eagle's inner wings. The obverse is microscopically abraded, although this is not noticeable unless a thorough examination is conducted, and no distracting marks are present. This confluence of impressive factors garnered it a CAC sticker.

Only a single die marriage of the Knob 6, 7x6 Stars design type exists, BD-6. However, it alone is still more available than the five Pointed 6, 8x5 Stars varieties combined, which contain two R.7s, two High R.5s, and one R.4 among their ranks. However, the BD-6 more than compensates for this availability with its plethora of die states. The present offering hails from Die State c/d, the fourth of six listed by Bass and Dannreuther. It is identified by the presence of clash marks in the left reverse stars as well as cracks left of the date and through the eagle, bisecting the first U in UNUM. However, the rust lump on the R in LIBERTY has not yet developed.
