    Description

    Mint Sharpness 1809/8 Half Eagle

1809/8 $5 --Cleaned--ANACS. MS60 Details. Breen-6458, BD-1, High R.3. Only a single die pair is known for 1809 half eagles. Examples show recutting within the lower loop of the 9, suggestive of an underdigit 8. Careful rotation beneath a light and loupe finds fine hairlines, which are most apparent on the reverse field. Otherwise, this is a charming example that boasts a decisive strike and lacks obvious abrasions. Adjustment marks are limited to the obverse dentils.
