    Description

    Part of Proof Set

1857 3CS Three Cent Silver PR65 NGC. The 1 in the date is very low. Sharply struck on all design elements and free of clash marks, this Gem proof has a dense layer of mottled toning across each side. Free of contact marks or other distractions, this piece belongs in the collection of a numismatist who enjoys original patina. With only an estimated 75 pieces struck, there are probably no more than 25 to 30 proofs that still survive. Census: 14 in 65, 7 finer (11/12).
