1862 Proof Set, PR64-65, Most Richly Toned
All Certified by NGC and Endorsed by CAC

1862 1C Seven-Piece Proof Set NGC. CAC. This mostly Gem set is all certified by NGC and each coin is CAC endorsed. Included are:

Cent PR65. CAC. The fields are brightly reflective and the overall surfaces demonstrate why the 1862 is such a popular date for type coin collectors who need a copper-nickel cent. Each side is yellow-gold with light overtones of rose. A few tiny flyspecks are seen on the reverse and there is the faintest trace of a fingerprint on the left part of the obverse.

Three Cent Silver PR64. CAC. Both sides are covered with deep charcoal and blue with traces of rose. The toning is of sufficient depth that much of the flash from the mirrored fields has been subdued unless held at a certain angle beneath a light. Fully struck throughout, there are no mentionable contact marks on either side.

Half Dime PR65. CAC. Another richly toned proof striking, but this piece has mirrored fields that flash forcefully through the blue, red, and citrine toning that is splashed across each side. Fully struck in all areas.

Dime PR64. CAC. Deep reddish patina characterizes the surfaces of this near-Gem, with occasional splashes of pale blue intermixed, especially around the obverse margins. Fully brought up throughout.

Quarter PR65. CAC. The bright reflectivity in the fields is fully apparent through the variegated light blue and rose-golden toning that is seen in differing degrees on each side. A couple of tiny horizontal marks on the face of Liberty are all that prevent an even higher grade of this fully struck Gem.

Half Dollar PR65. CAC. This is a lovely Gem proof half that exhibits blue in the centers of each side, surrounded by bright rose at the margins. The only mentionable mark is Mint-made, a small planchet flake in the upper left obverse field. The devices show pinpoint striking definition.

Dollar PR65. CAC. The fields show moderate reflectivity through the multiple layers of green, blue, gray, and rose toning. The devices are sharply defined, and there are no obvious post-striking defects.
