    1889 Seven-Piece Proof Set, PR64-PR66
    All NGC-Certified

1889 $1 Seven-Piece Proof Set, PR64-PR66 NGC. This is an attractive proof set, all NGC-certified, with all seven pieces. Included are:

Cent PR66 Red and Brown. The fields are nicely mirrored and there is significant underlying mint red across both sides of the coin. However, both sides also have an even layer of brown patina that partially subdues both the mirrors and red luster.

Three Cent Nickel PR66. Final year of issue for this unusual denomination. The strike details are complete in all areas. The fields are nicely mirrored and there is almost enough frost over the devices to warrant a Cameo designation. Lightly toned.

Nickel PR65. Each side is layered in successive shades of pastel toning. The fields are moderately mirrored, and the strike is fully defined in all areas.

Dime PR65. Rich blue and golden-rose toning covers each side. The depth of the coloration partially subdues the mirrored flash in the fields, but close inspection makes one wonder if the toning were absent would this be deeply mirrored cameo?

Quarter PR64. Each side is deeply mirrored, but again like the dime, significant multicolored toning cloaks each side. Again, there is significant mint frost over the devices. Nice coin for the grade.

Half Dollar PR64. The surfaces are almost brilliant, showing just the slightest hint of golden patina. Deeply mirrored fields.

Morgan Dollar PR64. An attractive near-Gem example with almost brilliant surfaces. The obverse margin is surrounded by russet-blue toning. A few scrapes and scratches on the holder make it somewhat difficult to discern what few imperfections are on the coin and what is on the encasement. Sharply struck.
