    1908 Proof Set, PR60 to PR62
    Consecutive PCGS Certification
    Old Green Label Holders

Five-Piece 1908 Proof Set PR60 to PR62 PCGS. The set includes:

Cent PR62 Red and Brown. Fully struck, unblemished, rich rose-red and blue-green toning. A mildly mirrored cent, with no spots or other distractions. Nice Red and Brown appeal.

Nickel PR61. Well struck, apricot-gold and steel-blue toning. Nicely reflective mirrors, although slightly hazy within the wreath. An attractive proof nickel.

Dime PR60. A lightly toned cameo with a few thin marks on Liberty's neck. Numerous delicate hairlines on the obverse are visible with a glass; however, the reverse is undisturbed and of higher quality.

Quarter PR60. A brilliant and boldly struck specimen with a cameo reverse. The surfaces are untoned and silver-white, reflectively mirrored and attractive for the assigned grade.

Half dollar PR60. Lightly toned and flashy, with a minor retained lamination between the date and star 13 visible only under magnification. Like the other silver proofs of this set, light hairlines are in evidence on the obverse but the reverse is considerably finer.

The coins are separately housed in old green label holders with consecutive certification numbers. 1,620 proofs were struck of the cent and nickel, with 525 proofs issued for the dime, quarter, and half dollar. As a group, this set is attractive for the grade designations, despite the expected hairlining on the silver coins. Silver proofs of this era were often given an occasional wipe to remove toning -- even those in the Mint's cabinet were periodically subject to a gentle cleaning.
