    Description

A slave title receipt dated February 23, 1861 from Memphis in the amount of $1,075, in retrospect an ill-advised expenditure as the Civil War grew ever closer; and a military commission signed by the Governor of Georgia, Herschel V. Johnson, on January 11, 1856. Two extremely interesting nineteenth century documents.
