    Description

    Originally Toned 1898 Proof Set

An ANACS-certified 1898 Proof Set, as follows:

1898 1C Cent PR63 Red and Brown ANACS. Both sides are well mirrored in the fields with pleasing pinkish-brown color. There are remarkably few distractions for the grade, but a few small toning spots are seen in the left obverse and reverse fields.

1898 Nickel PR64 ANACS. The essentially pristine surfaces are overlaid in warm golden-tan and slate-gray colors that brighten as the coin rotates into the light. Fully struck with no mentionable hairlines or contact marks.

1898 Dime PR64 ANACS. The proof finish is only readily evident on the reverse at a few angles. The obverse is toned in medium lavender-gray shades, the reverse displays a rich endowment of charcoal-gray toning with brighter electric-blue undertones. Fully defined, as befits a specimen striking.

1898 Quarter PR65 ANACS. The obverse is tinged in crimson-apricot shades over silver-gray patina. The reverse is more deeply colored in olive-copper patina with lilac-blue undertones. An obviously original proof with good reflectivity on the obverse.

1898 Half Dollar PR65 ANACS. This is a simply exquisite proof with antique-copper and lavender-gray obverse toning that is highlighted by intense lavender, apricot, and electric-blue undertones. The reverse is equally as attractive with similar colors toward the rims and apricot iridescence over the eagle. Solidly graded as a Gem with eye appeal to spare.

1898 Silver Dollar PR64 ANACS. This is a wholly original Morgan Dollar with rich antique-copper toning that lightens as one moves toward the centers. Emerald-green and apricot undertones are evident at a few angles, but neither side reveals any noteworthy hairlines or contact marks. (6 coins)
