    1870 Nine-Piece Proof Set. PR63-65
    All NGC-Certified

1870 1C Nine-Piece Proof Set NGC. Lacking only the Shield nickel, the ten pieces Included are:

Cent PR65 Red and Brown. Brightly mirrored with deep red color and just a touch of yellow. A few light specks of carbon are distributed over each side.

Two Cent Piece PR65 Red. Scarce with full red luster intact, this example is also deeply mirrored in the fields. Slightly variegated hues of red are seen scattered over the reverse. Exceptional quality and struck from heavily polished dies.

Three Cent Silver PR64. Each side is primarily blue with a faint intermingling of golden on the obverse. The fields are brightly reflective and greatly enhance the appeal of this near-Gem.

1870 Three Cent Nickel PR63. Bright from light cleaning, the surfaces show just the faintest overlay of streaky toning.

Half Dime PR65. The fields on each side are heavily striated and flash forcefully through the deep cobalt-blue toning that covers most of each side. Where the coin is not cobalt-blue, there is a light presence of reddish patina intermixed.

Dime PR64. This high-end near-Gem has brightly mirrored fields. Each side is covered with cobalt-blue toning that is surrounded by pale golden at the margins.

Quarter PR65. Each side has uncommonly deep fields and obviously frosted devices. This is fully apparent even through the iridescent blue, rose, and yellow patina that drapes both obverse and reverse.

Half Dollar PR64. Pastel iridescence covers the obverse, while the reverse is target-toned with a near-brilliant center. The fields are bright and flashy and greatly increase the vibrancy of the coin.

Seated Dollar PR63. Lightly cleaned at one time, which is most apparent in the center of the obverse where near-brilliance is seen. Deeper rings of rose and blue color are seen around the margins.
