1804 14 Star Reverse MS 63 PCGS. The more available of the two varieties from this year, although such a comparison within the context of the Heraldic quarter eagle series is an almost meaningless exercise. Out of a mintage of 3,327 pieces, fewer than 100 pieces are known to exist and they just happen to be more likely to exhibit the 14 Star reverse.
The surfaces on this magnificent specimen are well detailed save for the expected softness on the left sides of both obverse and reverse, and exhibit a lustrous yellow-gold appearance. There is trivial scuffiness in the more exposed areas of the obverse fields and adjustment marks are generously supplied along the left reverse border. One of the finest survivors of this elusive Draped Bust issue, with the added mystique of the 1804 date.
