Description

Scarce 1806/4 Quarter Eagle, XF 40

1806/4 XF 40 ANACS. An obvious rarity in a seldom-seen series, the 1806/4 has a distinctive underdigit and is not easily confused with the 1806/5. However, the obverse star arrangement is also different on the two overdates with the '06/4 having an 8x5 arrangement and the '06/5 aligned 7x6. Weakly struck, as always, this piece shows very little detailing in the centers, and there are numerous adjustment marks in the center of the obverse. Bright from cleaning, there are slight traces of luster still to be seen around some of the devices.
