    Description

    1807 BD-1 Quarter Eagle, AU50
    The Usual Early Die State

1807 $2 1/2 AU50 PCGS. BD-1, R.3. Bass-Dannreuther Die State a/b. This is the early die state with no obverse cracks. The reverse die had been used previously for 1805 and 1806 quarter eagles, and reappeared on 1807 dimes. There are no common dates among the early quarter eagles from 1796 to 1807, but this issue is more frequently encountered than any other. Its mintage of 6,812 coins was about one-third the entire mintage for that quarter eagle date range. A hint of green appears on the light yellow surfaces of this example. Trivial handling marks are consistent with the grade, and both sides are devoid of consequential problems.(Registry values: P5) (NGC ID# BFVY, PCGS# 7656)

    Weight: 4.37 grams

    Metal: 91.67% Gold, 8.33% Copper
