    Description

    1807 Two and a Half, MS62
    BD-1, Late Die State
    Pleasing Surfaces

1807 $2 1/2 BD-1, R.3, MS62 NGC. Bass-Dannreuther Die State "c"/b with several delicate cracks across the obverse periphery. BD-1 is the only 1807-dated variety, and is typically encountered in XF and AU grades. Problem-free Mint State examples are rare. This caramel-gold representative displays only unimportant field marks. The strike is usual for the type with moderate blending at the centers. Luster dominates the borders and devices. The Bass-Dannreuther reference describes two obverse die states, neither of which describe the delicate crack found on the present coin between stars 8 and 10. Census: 15 in 62, 5 finer (9/15). (NGC ID# BFVY, Variety PCGS# 45514, Base PCGS# 7656)

    Weight: 4.37 grams

    Metal: 91.67% Gold, 8.33% Copper
