    Description

    Lustrous 1807 Quarter Eagle, BD-1
    Mint State Details

1807 $2 1/2 --Obverse Scratched--NGC. Unc Details. Breen-6124, BD-1, R.3. The only variety known for the year. The 1807-dated obverse die is a new one (not an overdate), and the reverse is left over from 1805. The flag of the 1 lies squarely over Liberty's lowest hair curl, and the apex of the 7 touches the bottom of the bust. On the reverse, UNITED is high and the eagle clutches 13 arrows in its left (facing) talons. The NGC disclaimer stems from the prominent, upside-down, Y-shaped scratch in the right obverse field. Another far less-noticeable scratch appears on the reverse, running from the left (facing) wing down to the rim through the U in UNITED. Despite the no-grade slab, this coin is still remarkably lustrous, with just the slightest hint of "cabinet friction" on the obverse. The central design is slightly softly struck on each side.(Registry values: P5) (NGC ID# BFVY, PCGS# 7656)

    Weight: 4.37 grams
