Description

NGC 1807 AU 50. The most commonly encountered date in the Heraldic series of quarter eagles, but the term "common" must be understood in the context of early gold as only 6,812 pieces were struck of this date. This piece has bright surfaces with rich orange-gold color, and shows the usual softness of detail in the centers. A few minor field marks are noted on the obverse, but the most obvious ones are a few tiny digs in the center of the reverse on the shield and eagle's breast. Trends $8,300.
